Sail away my dear husband. 'Go where no man has gone before.' Go through every 'star gate' and 'beam up' to the highest abode in the heavens. You were great man with great talents and you have touched so many lives. Prominent people sought you out and wanted your help. People from far and wide have earned success from your teachings and your website. It’s true that you were not an ordinary man. I often called you zany. You are an artist, a musician, a scientist, an IT whizz and most of all a loving, caring father, husband, mentor and an incredible teacher. You always said ‘you teach people, not science'. Your many slogans will live us forever. This world was too small for you. Time for you to spread your wings and reach the stars. We will look up and we know you looking down for us. We love you forever❤

Mischke Gokal
We were lucky enough to be by your side as it happened, holding your hands. You left, listening to voice notes from your loved ones. So peacefully. To me, it felt like hearing all of our voices gave you the strength you needed to let go. We are so immensely grateful to the nurses who allowed us the time to say goodbye. Sonic and Dezil were so quiet on Thursday. It's as if they felt the energy shift in our lives forever. The last week that you were at home you were too sick to play with your boys. We had to keep the gates closed to stop Dezil from coming upstairs to check on you. They were so agitated on Saturday, as if they knew you were coming home one last time. They knew that you were really leaving them. Us. All of us. You spent your entire life going above and beyond for everyone. But you neglected yourself. You never let yourself rest. There was always another student to teach, another friend who needed your help, or another chapter to add to eWriter. Whatever higher power there is in this universe saw how truly tired you must've been, the absolute exhaustion you must've felt from always wanting to help everyone around you, and they decided that you needed to rest. I am happy that you can finally rest. I know that wherever you are, you're with Ajee and Aja, Thatha, Freya, Harper, Cody, Tori, and Rudy. You're all relaxing around the fire you made while you play the guitar and sing to them. You are one with the force, the force is with you. Rest well Daddy. I love you, always.

As per Newtons 3rd Law – For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Mr Vanesh Gokal has put out so much knowledge, light and passion into this world, and in return he has the adoration of many. It is with deep sadness that we announce his passing after a lengthy struggle with Covid. His energy can not be recreated, nor destroyed but has merely transferred to our heavens. May the force be with him❤️.

Certain people are so much more than the sum of the words we could use to describe them. They're often really bad at accepting thanks as well. 😪 Personally, I'd like to summarize his role in my journey with the following quote: "In a dark place we find ourselves, and a little more knowledge lights our way." - Master Yoda

My deepest sympathies are with you and your family during this time of bereavement 💔🙏 there are no enough words in the human language to describe the humble amazing human being we have lost. He gave freely to all in need of help or assistance without expectations . His absence will be felt by this earth for years to come. You are an amazing soul Mrs Moogie Gokal and I will always wish nothing but the best for you and your family in every life time. Sending you all the strength I have . These times are difficult and we have lost so many lights . Until we sing again. 💔

My heart breaks for you sweetie 💔. I know the pain you must be going through! And yes I agree, God saw that Dad was tired 😓 and and He chose him to be in His garden to rest with his family 💕. I can almost imagine his smirk when he sees his loved ones welcoming him at the gates of Heaven. He will always be your guardian angel 😇 who’ll protect you in your journey through life. I have no doubt that you will live up to his expectations and make him proud one day. Celebrate him but take time to grieve 🙏 as well. Take care sweetie 🥰. Love ❤️ and light 💝.

Deepest condolences to you and your family. Mr Gokal was one of the best people I knew. He was selfless, kind, compassionate and every time I saw him he would speak to anyone no matter if you were a teacher, friend, cleaner or student with the same respect. He is an example for is all to live by. Rest well Sir. See you one day 🤗 you will live on forever in our hearts.

Beautiful meaningful words from a wonderful daughter...your dad was really proud of u and will always be proud of u. You will always be daddys little princess. U just strive to reach greater heights and wid a mum like yours...u definitely will. The 3 of you must always be together and stay strong and celebrate your dad...laugh if you have to and cry if you want to but jus know that you are lucky to have spent your years making beautiful memories wid dad. Luv u lots my dear.

Mrs Gokal and family. I honestly feel this sort of emptiness and void that such an honourable man has left us. I'm in great shock and still cannot come to terms with it. I have only known Mr Gokal for 2 years and this year I would've been sitting in his matric class eagerly waiting for him to crack one of his hilarious jokes. However, it's his time to now rest❤️. Although I only had the opportunity to meet him once a week, I always have only noticed the goodness that he had to offer. Besides teaching me physics, he taught me how to become a better person. Mr Gokal has never let us down, because he was such a humble and noble man, and for that I can assure you that he has gained a first class ticket to heaven. Be strong, because that's what Mr Gokal would've wanted. We needed him the most during this time, but I know that he still is watching over us and he is going to guide us along the way. And I promise you as a student I will make him proud. Please take care during these difficult times. Nadia Vally.

It is with a heavy heart we say good bye to a distinguished gentleman. A man of integrity and a good hearted soal .There isn't enough words to describe this larger than life friend who was ready to asist us any day and at any time. We will miss u Mr Gokal, we will never forget u and your pleasant smile .U were always ready to assist the community and stand by all our projects, there was no such words as "no" or "I can't" A great man, a great leader and a great father to all of his students. Rest in peace my dear friend and one day we shall meet again and be friends in another time another place and another life. We will come together just like we did this time but for now we shall try to walk in your footsteps and touch whomever we meet in a happy friendly way, we shall give courage and inspiration to others as you have given to us. From our hearts The Clare Estate Action Committee kznccpa

Hare Krishna. I've been thinking about Mr Gokal so much. He was an rare soul with the kindest and giving heart. His intelligence and thinking was beyond the comprehension of most people yet he was always so simple and down to earth. When I lost my dad, he told me that I still have a father in him. Now I've lost my second father. He has changed my life. I'd never be where I am today if it weren't for him. I'm always here for you. I really wanted and was looking forward to spending time with him when I returned to SA. Please send me the link for the anthyesti samskar of Sriman Vanesh Gokal... I couldn't open it from the status. I will miss him so much. My heart and love goes out to you. I know that this isn't easy.

On behalf of the Station Commander and staff at Sydenham Saps, we pray that God grant you the strength to accept the tragic loss and we want you to know that you are not alone in your grieving...thousands of children who's lives he so positively touched mourn with you..as we ,his partners in community service do.🙏🏻

Hi Mrs Gokal. Mr Gokal was one of the few people I wanted to show my Certificate of Qualification. Hours after he took his last breath, I received the certificate and I just broke down. He supported me so much, not only in high school but also in university. Today I’m alive because he’s the only person who spoke some sense to me when I wanted to take my own life. He will forever be in our hearts. I did attend Mr Gokal’s funeral service virtually. I really admire the strength and courage that you have. You one of the strongest women I’ve ever seen. I will continue praying for u and ur family. Please do allow urself to mourn, give yourself that time and it’s okay not to be okay. May God continue to grant you strength. Please take care. Warm Regards Dr Noxolo Luthuli

My darling Aunt, I am so sorry. While I cannot begin to fathom the depths of your grief, I am devastated beyond words myself. Uncle Vanesh is my favorite uncle. No competition. But he was also my respected and admired guru. I learned so much from him. He inspired me to chase my dreams not only with his wise words of encouragement but with the exemplary way he lived his life, the way he loved you, the way he loved his children, the way he loves and lifted his community and his country. He is a hero in every sense of the word. I loved him so much. I will miss him even more. His legacy lives on through his students... I for one will never forget his teachings, his stories and jokes and the way he could make you believe anything is possible. Please get well again. Please. We love you so very much. I’m sending you all my strength and courage and love. ❤️

Good Evening dear Moosa. Yes the news of the passing away of our friend spread like wildfire. I got a message at 10:25. I realised that you would have been busy assisting the family as they have the greatest confidence in you as a friend, colleague, comrade..... The news has taken the education fraternity by shock. I hope and pray that his family (you included) and staff are given the strength by the Almighty to face the days, months and years ahead. The significance and enormity of the events of the day will be with us forever. Mr Gasa (SGB Chair at Burnwood and Bechet as well for many years, called me this morning and was choking with emotion and cut the call short saying that he could not contain himself. He said that Vanesh was a brother to him and I can only but echo those same sentiments. May God Bless you for being a pillar of support to the family. I’ll call you sometime tomorrow.

My heartfelt condolences to you and your family Mrs Gokal🙏 we have lost a Legend! Mr Gokal will be remembered forever!! I'll never forget tuition sessions at UKZN! What a wonderful tribute to a most wonderful man that Sir was...A committed, compassionate individual who went the extra mile to assist everyone...Education was his forte where he excelled in transforming the lives of all that he was in contact with. He will be deeply missed and loved by all...IT IS MY PRAYER THAT GOD WILL COMFORT YOU MY DEAREST Moogie Gokal AS WELL AS YOUR FAMILY DURING THIS SAD TIME. MAY HE RICHLY BLESS YOU IN THE DAYS TO COME, AND MAY THE LIGHT OF HIS PRESENCE BE A CONTINUAL SOURCE OF CONSOLATION. YOU TRULY ARE A WOMAN OF STEEL MY FRIEND, LOVE AND LIGHT TO YOU ALWAYS...

Thanks you so much Mrs G.... Condolences once again. The heavens have a gained an angel but we have gained a guardian angel. He loved his work very and where I am I walk tall because of his teachings ❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏼

Mr V Gokal revolutionised thinking in so many ways. Some of his quotes that stand out for me: ‘Physics is about people.’ ‘Character builds character.’ ‘Although time is scalar, you must choose your direction.’ ‘21st century is not a date … it is an attitude!’ ‘Our minds are safe in yesterday. But that's not what our minds are made for.’ He foretold his Physics class way back in 2002/3 that the mobile phone would be a very powerful device. And so it is! He was ever so encouraging and supportive of my artistic pursuits. ‘Actually You are the gift to art!’ he messaged me on International Artist Day 2019. His favourite cartoon character was Daffy Duck. A courageous leader and mentor who left an indelible impression on so many hearts and minds. Strength in Love and Light to his family, students, friends and colleagues Forever missed

Hi Moogie. My sincere condolences to you and the children. May Ull be blessed with the strength to continue in spite of not having Vanesh around. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to have taught with this absolutely amazing soul. Vanesh was an excellent teacher, an exceptional human being and a true friend. I can still remember the accolades he received from teachers and learners alike for the outstanding results he produced at Southlands Sec year in and year out. . I also recall with a great sense of gratitude how Vanesh used to approach me to send indigent children from my schools to his tuition classes, free of charge. The 'state of the art' computer and printer he donated to Grove End Sec will always be remembered. We have lost a very committed, passionate, inspirational and a true visionary leader. I am happy that I did tell him how proud I was of him and the kind of work he did to change lives, especially that of our youth. May God bless and keep Ull well.

I did science because of Mr Gokal and as I went through life I felt like I was not yet at the point in life when I can meet my mentor n tell him face to face you the reason I did science.I always remember sitting in his class n like he always said he had a D in school n he became a science teacher.I honestly wasn't the sharpest in class but he truly inspired me.I think of the greats in science like Einstein and Newton but Mr Gokal was a giant beyond them. His contribution was a passion for science n imparting knowledge and impacting so many. It's a shock to see this legend go and I'm writing this to honor n pay tribute to this great man.Thank Mr Gokal for all u have done and for all the lives u have impacted.May God bless Moogie Gokal and family through this time with strength and courage.RIP my mentor.

Hi Mrs Gokal let me take this opportunity and convey my deepest condolences to you and your family.I am a SADTU regional education converner. So i knew your husband because my workshops were mainly held in his school since he would offer the Union to utilise his space no matter how late it would be. May ur soul soul rest in peace Mr Vanesh Gokal.ill honor ur for the rest of my life.ull always be in our hearts sir

These past few days were difficult for everyone who knew you and whose life you touched. I got to experience him as an academic leader, and a few years later I got to see the professional side to this mastermind. In high school, Mr Vanesh Gokal would always call us his children, his babies, and that's one thing I learnt from him and use in my work as a teacher, and I now realise how much of an impact that had on us. He was a phenomenal man who left a mark on every individual that crossed paths with him. Lucky were those who got to experience he was. We are all grateful for his eternal place in our lives ❤❤ Mr Gokal's force is within us✨ RIP Mr Gokal🙏🏽❤🕊

Rest in peace to Mr gokal he once said to us as grade 12's of 2018"never let agent of failure cripple your road to success" n till this day when ever I feel down n out I replay those words over n over in my head,he was a great person, used the word "lad" a lot when a dressing us boys n I am thankful to God that I got to meet him n know him not as a principal only but a person and father may he rest in peace too his family I send my condolences

My son's favourite line after physics tuition classes with my precious brother in law..'Mum, Uncle Vanesh is just brilliant!' He used to say this to me ,not once but repetitively...Such a huge and tragic loss to education 💔You have left us too soon Vanesh💔💔💔

May ur soul rest in eternal peace Mr V. Gokal, we will forever miss you. Condolences to Mrs M. Gokal and Family, "Indeed he was an uncommon man" even to us as learners, he was unpredictable. Long live the spirit of Mr Gokal... --

The most understated contribution to humanity has to be the role of teachers in our society. A profession so often overlooked and under appreciated. The recent loss of my high school principal didn't shake me to my core... I'm a bit of a toughie but when i watched a snippet of his funeral earlier it hit me that these humans are amazing beings. He will no doubt be missed by his fraternity, he went off with love and respect and more than anything he touched many lives judging from the messages of condolences that i have seen streaming in over the last few days... there was no shouts of viva and no diamond studded hearse because he didnt need that... he left a legacy far beyond that because he moulded minds... Vanesh Gokal became principal the year i graduated from high school so i didnt spend as much time as many of my alma mater and friends that came after however the one thing that sticks out to me, apart from the great compassion he showed me when my mom passed in my matric year, was my last day at school. He handed me my testimonial and said go well Shaina... go shake the up this World... I do not think even he realised at that point how much shaking up I would do. Go well, may you rest in peace and may all those who left your hands always remember to shake up the World!

Mr gokal was a good principal. And he was not just a principal he was a father to us and its very painful to everyone 😭its still unbelievable that he is no longer with us .mr gokal burnwood secondary will never be the same without you but remember that us as burnwood students wilm always love you, miss you, respect you ,obey your rules will miss you mr gokal

I know Mr Gokal in times of difficulty when i enter his office with tears in my eyes he would listen to your story attentively and assure you that everything thing will be fine. Moreover he would tell you that if you need help just call me indeed he would help you . I'm grateful for moments spent with him was far more than the Principal but was like a Caregiver heaven has gained. Mrs Gokal n your family be blessed and we are in prayers that may God grant a speedy spiritual healing. We luv you

It is indeed a massive loss. I want to share my story. Mr Gokal did not only teach me Physical Science, he gave me a life line and a corner stone. He once told me to stay behind after class. Obviously for those who knew me, i was naughty. He sat me down and very wisely educated me. He said:" Young man, take your bad attitude and leave it outside. The next time you come to my class i want to see the real you." He also said that he has never seen a student with an amazing problem solving mind. I went home and i decided to take his advice. Today i am in the Aircraft Engineering and System Management arena. All because of Mr Gokal. What a Man, Teacher, Mentor and friend. I will never forget him. He will live forever, for I speak to my kids about him at most supper times. Peace be upon him and his family. Let us carry his vision forward.
